Wheels Bus Launches Network Expansion and Service Updates
LIVERMORE, Calif.– Wheels is Ready to Roll out new bus routes with expanded network coverage, improved connectivity to BART, and enhanced weekend services starting March 23! The Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LAVTA) will implement its Wheels in Motion project providing Tri-Valley residents with more options to get to where they live, work and play.
Commuters will benefit from the significant improvement of adjusted Rapid bus frequencies aligned with the new 20-minute BART train schedules. In addition, LAVTA is launching new neighborhood routes like Route 4 serving Central Dublin and Route 18 serving South Livermore. Reinstated services that were suspended due to the pandemic include Route 11 serving Greenville and the 580X between Livermore and BART. The new Wheels in Motion bus network was selected after analysis of community and rider feedback collected through Fall 2023.
For those who haven’t been riding Wheels lately, now is the time to try with FREE rides systemwide from March 23 – April 6. Spring is here, and with longer days come more opportunities for outside adventures, shopping, or dining. There is no better time to give Wheels clean and comfortable buses a try.
“Wheels continues to improve and evolve to meet the needs of our growing Tri-Valley communities. With routes reaching neighborhoods that were previously without service and improved BART connectivity there are more reasons than ever to ride Wheels”, said LAVTA Board Chair Melissa Hernandez. “I would personally encourage those who haven’t tried Wheels to take advantage of the fare free promotion and see just how easy and convenient it is to take the bus.”
New route maps and timetables are available at wheelsbus.com/wheels-in-motion. All riders should download their latest route schedules for updated bus bay assignments and to check for new timetables. Plan for next week’s transit needs now by downloading Transit App, available free on Android and iPhone, for a network preview!
Weekday Service Enhancements:
- Rapid Routes 10R and 30R have updated frequencies to connect seamlessly to BART service schedules.
- Routes 1, 3, 8 and 14 are available more often, running every 40 minutes.
- Route 2 resumes hourly peak service in East Dublin
- Route 11 resumes limited peak service to East Livermore.
- Route 15 increases frequency to every 20 minutes during peak hours and hourly during the midday
- Route 18 provides new service to Southwest Livermore offering easy transit from Granada High School and Mendenhall Middle School
- Route 4 provides new service to Central Dublin, connecting all the way North to the San Ramon Senior Center and swinging through both BART stations with interline connections to Route 3.
- Route 580X resumes limited service between Downtown Livermore and BART with stops along Airway at the Park-and-Ride and Business Center.
- Route 70X extends through the Hacienda Business Park
Weekend Service Enhancements:
- Rapid Route 10R runs every 20 minutes on Saturdays and every 40 minutes on Sundays, aligned with BART service schedules
- Route 30R runs every 40 minutes on Saturdays and continues to run hourly on Sundays, aligned with BART service schedules
- New local service to Central Dublin runs every 40 minutes daytime on Saturdays
